War Child Canada works with war-affected communities to help children reclaim their childhood through access to education, opportunity and justice. War Child Canada has over 15 years of experience working in communities in conflict and post-conflict zones.
All work is implemented in direct partnership with local communities, local civil society organizations and other stakeholders using a child-centered approach to development.
War Child Canada currently works in Afghanistan, Sudan, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, Jordan and Iraq, and is registered Canadian charity based in Toronto.
War Child Canada’s Afghanistan program advances social impact in the lives of vulnerable children, women and their families through its Justice, Education and Opportunity program with child protection and gender across all its programs. The country program is currently undergoing an exciting expansion with newly secured long-term funding for programs in five provinces Kabul, Kandahar, Nangarhar, Balkh and Badakhshan.
Child-Friendly Spaces
We provide safe spaces for children to play, learn, seek help, and just be kids.
Catch-Up Learning
We help children who were forced to leave school to catch up on their education. Our teams develop condensed curriculums and train teachers in delivering these lessons.
Legal Aid for Women and Children
To protect their rights, our lawyers provide free legal representation to women and children who have survived violence and abuse.
Tools for Education
We give communities necessary supplies for education, like pencils, books, chairs, and handwashing facilities.
Food and Farming Support
We support farming families so they can feed their communities. We provide supplies, including seeds and tools, and training, like livestock management and new farming techniques.
New Business Support
We train and support young adults and women so that they can build local businesses and provide for their families.
Mental Health Support
We offer counselling to survivors of conflict to help them overcome trauma and build new lives. SEEMORE
